Riding lessons teach you how to properly groom, care for and safely handle a horse. Beginner students will learn about tacking up, appropriate safety attire and basic riding skills. As you develop more confidence and abilities, routine lessons can help you to learn the skills necessary to become an accomplished equestrian. We ask that students are at least 8 years of age and all students must sign an insurance liability waiver. Students under 16 years of age require their parents’ signature.

The riding instructor is a certified Western Rider Level 4 under Equine Canada and the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation. All private lessons are scheduled for a duration of one hour, for each additional half hour a fee will be charged. As current NSEF members we adhere to safety policies and practices of Equine Canada as set out by the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation.

Cancellation Policy: Spirit Reins Ranch requires 12 hours cancellation notice for private lessons and 24 hours notification for group bookings. If a student does not show up without proper notice the regular lesson fee will apply. During inclement weather lessons will take place in the barn.
